- NDI signs cooperative agreement with Mednetix AG of Switzerland for the joint development of magnetic spatial measurement system.
- A strategic alliance is finalized with Measurand Inc. - a world- leading innovator in fiber optic measurement technology.

1998
- NDI named as a winner of the 1998 Canada Export Award.
- Optotrak was used to give human expression and detailed movement in the motion picture movie version of Godzilla.
1997
- NDI introduced the passive and hybrid versions of the Polaris System.
1996
- Polaris Optical Tracking Systems were introduced as a small, lightweight and cost effective measurement solution for localizing applications. Primarily used in the medical field, the Polaris is employed as a measurement device in computer-assisted surgery for skull,spine and orthopedic applications.
1994
- NDI developed a customized version of the Optotrak System for use in Johnson & Johnson's ACUSTAR I system for image guided neurosurgery.
1992
- Introduction of the Optotrak RH-2020 based on the current Optotrak technology but engineered for operation in extremely harsh conditions. The RH-2020 is installed in many wind tunnels throughout the world for highly precise angle, vibration and CTS measurements.
1990
- The Optotrak quickly gains market acceptance and evolves into the market leader in 3D optical tracking systems. Based on a specialized sensor technology and a proprietary optics design, this system tracks small infrared markers attached to the subject making highly accurate 3D and 6DOF measurements possible in real time.
