NDI Launches the OPTOTRAK PROseries Model 300 and Optical SMR

WATERLOO, CANADA – March 4, 2006: Today, NDI announced the release of a new version of its next-generation portable metrology system, the OPTOTRAK PROseries Model 300, which combines an attractive price point with the advantage of optical technology. NDI will demonstrate its next-generation PCMM suite at the Control trade fair in Germany from May 9th to May 12th.

"The 300 model addresses a market demand for low cost systems with none of the traditional limitations," said Paul Clausen, V.P. of Strategic Business Development at NDI. "Now we can offer a budget-conscious system with a volume equivalent to an arm-based platform and the added advantage of optical tracking."

Entry-level portable metrology systems often suffer from freedom-of-movement restrictions imposed by mechanical arms, and even "walkabout" laser tracking systems are limited by beam breaks. OPTOTRAK PROseries model 300 fills in these holes with a new, leading-edge, Optical SMR.

The Optical SMR provides light, affordable, and easy-to-use 3D point measurement functionality similar to a laser-based SMR, but with optical tracking advantages such as instant tracking and high measurement throughput. Another advantage is the ability of the armless and beamless OPTOTRAK PROseries to conduct fixtureless measurement through Dynamic Referencing.
