Role Summary/Purpose:

We are looking for an innovative Embedded Software Developer to join our R&D team in the development of wearable motion tracking instruments for use in medical devices and AR/VR systems. As a member of a small dynamic team of engineers, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and release of real-time embedded software, including data acquisition threads and communication interfaces. This embedded software will power NDI’s advanced measurement systems, immersing end users in augmented and virtual reality experiences.

The successful candidate will join the team located at our regional field office in Shelburne, Vermont and collaborate with professionals at our Headquarters located in Ontario Canada.

 Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Design and generate embedded software to NDI’s internal software development standards, and produce associated technical documentation
  • Work collaboratively as a part of our small-cross functional team
  • Prepare material and participate in software peer reviews
  • Integrate embedded software with the target hardware
  • Integrate embedded system with the related host-side drivers and applications
  • Ensure completion is timely, striving to meet or exceed project milestones

Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of recent hands-on experience coding and software design

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in C/C++, and object oriented code
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills, documentation skills, and the ability to communicate well both in writing and orally

 Desired Characteristics/Additional Assets:

  • Experience with commercial RTOS packages
  • Experience developing multithreaded applications
  • Experience with ARM development tools
  • A working understanding of  SPORT, I2C, and SPI communication channels, as well as DMAs and high speed data acquisition Experience with Board Support Packages
  • Practical hands-on experience using hardware and debug tools (ie logic analyzers and oscilloscopes)
