Growing Interest in CAT Research in Asia Pacific

Since the opening of the NDI Asia Pacific office in Hong Kong in 2002, NDI's research customer base for computer assisted therapy (CAT) has grown significantly in the region. In particular, in China, with the strong demands for higher standard medical care, the government has provided heavy investment of funds into medical research and more local research institutes are establishing CAT labs and projects.

We are proud that more than 100 research institutes in the region are using NDI technology for CAT related research. Key medical institutions, such as Osaka University in Japan, Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiatong University in China, all use NDI systems in their research including Optotrak, Polaris, and Aurora. Their research interests include all CAT areas such as medical robotics, interventional therapies, and soft tissue applications

We are also seeing growing interest for NDI technologies for CAT related research in countries like Thailand and India. We have recently successfully installed Polaris and Aurora systems in the two research institutes in Thailand that are involved in medical robotics and orthopedics surgery research.

The NDI Asia Pacific office is located in the central hub of Hong Kong island. It is staffed with three people providing support for sales, technical support and customer service. The office is equipped with all the latest NDI products and can provide demonstrations of all NDI technologies. We continue to work closely with all medical researchers and medical OEM customers in the Asia Pacific region to enable them to develop cutting edge CAT solutions.
