NDI Releases Aurora V2 System

May 2011

WATERLOO, Canada -- NDI (Northern Digital Inc.), a world-leader in 3D measurement technology for medical, industrial and research applications, is pleased to announce the release of a new version of their market-leading electromagnetic tracking system, the Aurora V2 EM Tracking System.

The Aurora V2 system features a 20% improvement in volumetric accuracy over the current Aurora system while maintaining the same form factor to ease OEM transition to the new hardware. The Aurora V2 system also features a USB connection option and a synchronization port, allowing it to be synchronized with other systems.

NDI recognizes that OEMs wishing to incorporate electromagnetic tracking in their applications are generally interested in customizing the components to create new form-factors or to allow for tighter integration options minimizing the impact to clinical workflow. With this in mind, NDI has designed the Aurora V2 system and developed resources to be able to quickly respond to requests for customization.

"We are pleased to continue to push the limits of electromagnetic tracking by offering a system with improved accuracy," said David Rath, VP Medical Division. "We strive to position ourselves to be the navigation partner of choice for OEM customers by working closely with them to create solutions that meet the unique requirements of medical applications."
