NDI to Exhibit at the 2009 Society of Interventional Radiology
February 26, 2009
WATERLOO, Canada -- NDI (Northern Digital Inc.), a world-leader in 3D measurement technology for medical, industrial and research applications, is pleased to announce it will be exhibiting at the Society of Interventional Radiology, 34th Annual Scientific Meeting (SIR 2009), being held March 7-12th, 2009 in San Diego, CA. NDI will be in Booth #2524. On display will be NDI’s Aurora Electromagnetic Tracking System, which can be used to track the tips of flexible medical instruments commonly used in interventional radiology procedures. The system allows tools to be tracked while inside the body, with no line-of-sight restrictions. NDI will also be displaying exciting new OEM offerings of electromagnetic (EM) sensors and tracking tools for use with the Aurora System.
"With over 14,000 installations worldwide, NDI continues to be the market leader in computer-assisted therapy technology," commented Dave Rath, V.P. Medical Division. "We are excited about the benefits that Aurora technology brings to the interventional radiology market. At SIR 2009, several of our OEM partners will also be showing applications where they have integrated our technology, allowing their customers to realize the full benefits of computer-assisted therapy."
The applications for EM tracking in the medical field continue to expand and the ability of the technology to enhance procedures which involve minimally-invasive instrumentation is gaining recognition. EM tracking from NDI provides users with more precision, greater spatial awareness and higher confidence during interventional radiology procedures.
