Challenges with Medical Robotics Integration

In order to effectively integrate robotics into medical procedures, technicians need to accurately and consistently know the location of the end point of a robotic end-effector. Current electro-mechanical sensors within the robot do not provide the required accuracy for medical procedures.

Product Integration

Integrating the Polaris Spectra™or the Polaris Vicra® optical measurement system into medical solutions that require the tracking of robotic arms would improve the accuracy of these systems in a simple, non-obtrusive, and cost effective way. How would the integration of NDI optical tracking systems be able to improve these systems? Attaching NDI markers (or integrating them into the robotic arm) would allow the robotic arm to be tracked by an NDI position sensor, resulting in the ability to identify the exact location and orientation of the robotic end-effector. With the exact location of the robotic end-effector known, the necessary positional accuracy can be better achieved in robotic medical procedures.
