NDI Europe Recognized as a Leading Innovator with Top 100 Award

Radolfzell, Germany – June 30, 2017 – NDI Europe GmbH, a leading global innovator and manufacturer of advanced 3D measurement and tracking technology systems, is honoured to have been named one of the 2017 Top 100 innovative companies in Germany (in the medium-sized enterprise category).

The winning companies were selected by an independent panel of judges for their well-structured innovative processes, favourable innovative climate, and exceptional innovative outcomes. The Top 100 awards were presented by science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar, Professor Nikolas Franke (of the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration), and compamedia in a ceremony at the deutschen Mittelstand summit in Essen. In particular, the judges praised NDI Europe for its innovative processes and the success of its innovation.

With this recognition, NDI Europe joins an impressive rank of small and medium-sized German enterprises: of the winning companies, 101 are market leaders in Germany, and 26 are global market leaders. NDI Europe can claim the latter designation. It develops and manufactures the Aurora® electromagnetic tracking solution, which is integrated into the world’s top OEM medical 3D navigation systems.

This tracking technology is incorporated into OEM customer applications that require exceptionally accurate and precise tool navigation; for example, cardiology, ENT surgery, and endoscopy. Customers range from innovative start-ups to multinational medical technology companies.

“We work very closely with our customers to align product development to specific medical OEM applications,” says CEO Manfred Schmid, who devotes around 60 per cent of his working time to innovation. The company has 68 employees, of which almost half work on improving Aurora and fulfilling specific customer requirements full-time.

Focusing product strategy on the optimal integration of the technology into clinical workflows has been a deciding success factor for NDI Europe, which has seen annual growth of around 30 per cent since 2012. The company’s innovative culture and environment is underscored by a passion to drive new product developments, and push the technological boundaries of the medical OEM market.
