3D Investigator

Notice of Obsolescence—Optotrak® Product Line – Read more

From the makers of Optotrak® and Optotrak Certus®, comes the 3D Investigator™ Motion Capture System. Experience the quality you’ve come to expect from Northern Digital Inc. in an entry level, cost effective solution. Combined with our new Smart Marker technology, 3D Investigator is the ideal solution for all your research needs.

The 3D Investigator motion capture system offers the following benefits and advantages:

No Data-Sorting

  • Spend research time doing research instead of data-sorting! The 3D Investigator will NEVER misidentify or lose identity of markers. This means that time consuming and error prone manual data sorting is never required. As soon as you have collected data from your subject, you are ready to start analyzing.

True Real-time Data

  • The 3D Investigator delivers true real-time data 100% of the time. The exceptionally low latency of this data makes it ideal for virtual reality and other feedback applications.

Research-Grade Data

  • The 3D Investigator provides exceptional spatial and temporal accuracy. You can be sure that 3D Investigator data is objective and accurate.

Competitive Pricing

  • Experience the quality you’ve come to expect from Northern Digital Inc. in an entry level, cost effective solution. Get the features you need today with the option of extending 3D Investigator in the future.

Instant Set-up

  • The 3D Investigator is factory calibrated using a proprietary manufacturing procedure exclusive to Northern Digital Inc. This means that you can collect data immediately after powering up your system. Even if you move your system, you can immediately begin operating it without the need for a lengthy and complicated calibration procedure.

No Reflections

  • The 3D Investigator is not hampered by false signals created by reflections, thus there is no need for any special preparations to your lab.

Free Customer Support

  • Northern Digital Inc. has earned a reputation for exceptional customer support.
  • Contact us via email, fax or phone. Our dedicated customer support team will quickly provide you with the information you need.

Backwards Compatible

  • Northern Digital Inc ensures that its existing customers can take advantage of new software and hardware features. We strive to ensure backwards compatibility of new features with previously developed systems.

Freedom from Wires

  • Optotrak Smart Markers, a unique inline wiring and branching technology, simplify experiment execution by providing complete freedom of movement for research subjects.

Every 3D Investigator Motion Capture System comes with the NDI Optotrak Software package, which includes the following programs:

  • NDI First Principles: provides an easy way to observe, record, play back, and manage data produced by 3D Investigator. First Principles also allows for easy integration of 3rd party devices, such as force platforms, EMG systems, eye-trackers, and many others.
  • DataView: allows viewing of Optotrak motion capture data files by frame or by marker, as graph or text.
  • 6D Architect: simplifies the tool characterization process, as well as the creation of tool definition files.
